From The Golf Pro March Update
By: Ed Currin, PGA Professional
It seems impossible, but I know spring is on the way. The snow and inclement weather has everyone eager for green grass, sunshine, and lots of golf. The Men’s and Ladies’ Golf Committees have been hard at work lining up a calendar that promises something for everyone. We have enclosed a copy of the upcoming tournament schedule to help you plan your season. A more detailed description of all of the events will follow soon. We have scheduled a ladies’ clinic and a junior clinic to help you start the season off right. We plan to offer several more clinics throughout the season. Please note key dates: Ladies’ Member-Guest is June 10-11 and the Men’s Member-Guest is June 17-19.
Men’s Hole-in-One Club
We have a $10 and $50 hole-in-one club. Members playing with at least two other golf association members in an 18 hole round scoring a hole-in-one at The Water’s Edge, will win the pot. When a hole-in-one is scored, members will automatically be re-billed to replenish the pot.
Reminder
There is no better way to start the new season than a new set of clubs or new grips and a tune up lesson with Ed or Derek. Please remember we have space in bag storage and locker rental for your convenience.

By: Ed Currin, PGA Pro
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and now you are ready for a fantastic 2010. The golf season will be here before you know it. The new men’s and ladies’ golf committees have been hard at work lining up a schedule that promises to offer lots of competition and excitement for everyone. You will receive a copy of the schedule as soon as it is available and we plan to have the golf booklets in the golf shop around the first of March. We plan to utilize email a lot more for communication this year. Please email me at twepro@pga.com with your email address if you are not receiving them. Your January statement will include billing for this years handicap fee, men’s and ladies’ golf association fees, bag storage, and locker rental. The appropriate fees are listed below. We will bill everyone for the service you utilized last year. If you wish to add one of these services or drop one please contact the pro shop by email or telephone. We will be happy to make any adjustments necessary.
Our handicap system is now active 12 months a year, so you may post scores any time.
Congratulations to Bill Bannan and Phil Nielsen for their recent hole-in-ones. Both golfers aced number 7.
There is no better way to start the new season than a new set of clubs or new grips and a tune up lesson with Ed or Derek. Please let us know if you have an interest in a Spring golf trip to Myrtle Beach. We hope to see you on the course soon.

Please remember to keep the Pro Shop in mind for your Christmas shopping. All of our clubs, bags, shirts, sweaters, jackets, and golf balls are marked at cost plus 10%. We also will conduct our annual Christmas sale this month, come out early to receive these great deals. We will be offering free gift wrapping for items purchased in the Pro Shop.
The VSGA Handicapping system is now being used year round. You will be able to post your scores for the winter months.
Congrats to Sherri Daniels for her Hole-in-One on Hole #11!
Men’s Day will still be conducted every Wednesday at 12:00.
RESULTS—Our season long two-man match play concluded with the team of Philip Lucado and Jeff George defeating the team of Ron Willard and Garland Smart. The match was a hard fought victory going back and forth throughout the entire 18 holes. On the 18th hole Jeff George made a miraculous 40 foot putt to bring down the odds on favorites to win.
REMINDER—With the winter months upon us, don’t forget to come by the Pro Shop on those sunny days, to get your game tuned up for the 2010 season. Ed and Derek will be glad to get your game going in the right direction. The winter months are also a good time to check your grips and if they seemed a little worn drop them by the Pro Shop to get them replaced, we offer a wide variety of different grips.
Keep your eyes open for Winter Activities and Clinics to be conducted by the Pro Shop.
